Present: George Snyder, Dave Nichols, Bill Puthoff, Jeff Albrinck, Doug Lohmeier, Gary Foust, Neil Korte, Tom Stautberg & Deborah Meek from Stautberg Benefit Advisors, Mike Stahancyzk, Adam Balls & Tony Szymczak from Hylant Group
I. Finance
1. September Financial Statements
· Reviewed
2. 2008 Health Insurance – Tom Stautberg will attend-
· Tom is working on the 2008 rates expected to have by next meeting
· Committee is to resume looking into Health Savings Account program for the Village
3. 2008 Budget – Legal Level of Control Options
· Reviewing process change from Account Code Level to Object Code Level
4. Appropriation Ordinance
· Reviewed Ordinance for 10/11/07 agenda
II. Police
1. Personnel Status Update
A. Stg. Asbrock – Off since August/07 due to back/disc problem
· Stg. Asbrock could be out longer versus shorter
· Officer staffing & overtime currently okay since we are now at 19 officers
B. Ptl. Ward assigned to third shift and completed his FTO program
C. Stg. Korte is serving in a mentor/apprentice role learning administration duties to diversify some responsibilities.
2. Litigation Update
· Next court date is in December 2007
3. Training Update
A. Detective Abrams completed Basic Photography/crime scenes & Conducting background investigation for new applicants
· Abrams is replacing Ptl. Shope in this position.
B. Stg. Korte & Ptl. Shope completed Emergency Vehicle Operations Instruction Update Course
C. Chief Foust, Lt. Phillips. Stg. Korte, Sgt. Niehauser to attend Leadership Seminar in October, 2007
D. All PD management to complete level 300 &400 Command NICS courses in October 2007 and November 2007
4. Budget Review 2008
· Refer to budget book, there are 4 areas of increases
o Professional Consulting (Litigation expenses)
o Annual Physicals
o Vehicle Costs (Fuel)
o Training & Education
· Chief Foust reminded us his vehicle is the extra car in this years request and that last year 1 of the 3 vehicles was replaced and covered by insurance because accident.
III. Recreation
1. 2008 Budget Information
· Sub committee reviewed & will present to full Commission on Oct. 25, 2007
· Will ask for additional dollars for Soccer Uniform replacement and $2500 for Adult Services
Other Items:
7:00 pm Hylant Group Representative
· Mr. Snyder introduced the Hylant Group (Village’s Casualty provider) to committee. Hylant Group is now providing Health Insurance through a statewide group with the same provider we are currently with, Medical Mutual. The benefit is to stabilize the risk through a larger group without changing provider.
· We instructed them to work through Mr. Snyder to gather the necessary information for them to provide a quote to the Village.
